Bermuda police say they have recovered the body of missing St. Joseph's University rugby player Mark Dombroski, but they have not announced a cause of death for the 19-year-old, according to a report by the Associated Press.

Dombroski went missing after playing in the Ariel Re International 7s in Bermuda on Saturday and later spending the evening at a bar called The Dog House.

Dombroski, an SJU freshman who played high school rugby at Archmere Academy in Claymont, Delaware, was part of the Hawks' sevens program that went to the collegiate tournament in Bermuda.

The St. Joseph's team finished competing on Saturday (finishing seventh while Kutztown won the cup) and socialized the rest of the evening.

In an earlier statement, the Bermuda Police Service said, in part:

The last time he was seen by his family and friends was a few minutes after 12am Sunday, March 18th at The Dog House (a local restaurant and bar) on Front Street in the City of Hamilton.

At 9:39am Sunday, March 18th police were officially notified of his disappearance by a family member. Police enacted their missing person protocols and commenced trying to locate Mark, including a concerted media and social media campaign, which saw updates throughout the day and night. ... Police can confirm that CCTV footage now indicates that Mark was seen alone at 1:09am Sunday, March 18th walking east along Front Street just past the junction with King Street. He was wearing a green T-shirt, khaki pants and black shoes. He appeared to be using a cell phone device.

Today in a statement reported by the Associated Press, the BPS and Dombroski's mother, Lisa Dombroski, thanked local residents and businesses for helping to search for Mark.

Police said alcohol was not believed to be a factor in his disappearance.

UPDATE: BPS Assistant Police Commissioner James Howard confirmed in a press conference that Dombroski's body had been found in Devonshire Parish, Bermuda, and that the area had been cordoned off.

Howard also said foul play has not been ruled out.

Dombroski's body was found in an area less than a mile from the US Consulate General, and about 1.5 miles from The Dog House bar.
