The Utah Cannibals won the Boys HS Elite 7s at the Las Vegas Invitational, beating the Arizona Bobcats 27-5 in the final.

The Cannibals produced an impressive combination of speed and power, led by the redoubtable Bailey Wilson, and with a cadre of respected coaches led by Colin Puriri.

"This is basically the team we've had playing together for some time," said Puriri. "But the last couple of times we've been here in Vegas we haven't gotten out of pool play. This year we put a lot more work in, and went down to Arizona to train and get some game time."

Cannibals Too Close For Comfort

In fact, the Cannibals scrimmaged against those self-same Bobcats, and it's clear both teams benefited.

The Cannibals beat defending champions Eagle Impact Rugby Academy in the quarterfinals 31-14. EIRA went on to beat Atavus and Play Rugby to take 5th.

Arizona beat British Columbia in the quarters. Atlantis beat Atavus to make the semis, while DMV shut out Play Rugby 10-0. In the semis, Arizona shut out DMV 24-0, while the Cannibals took care of Atlantis 29-14.

But it was the Cannibals' day.

"They just put it all together," said Puriri. "And they made us proud."
