We've barely started the USA 7s in Las Vegas and already we're deep into pool play.
The USA was phenomenal Friday, beating Samoa 26-12 and Australia 28-7, despite playing without its regular captain (Madison Hughes, injured) and one of its best defenders (Stephen Tomasin, injured).
The Eagles looked to Maka Unufe, Folau Niua, and Martin Iosefo to take up the slack and they came through. Meanwhile, stalwarts Danny Barrett and new captain Ben Pinkelman were powerful on the narrow Sam Boyd Stadium pitch.
Barrett scored two against Samoa, while Perry Baker started the game against Australia with a try and started the second half with one, as well. Iosefo scored two against Australia, including this gem.

And that made it three for the evening for the USA center and two wins for the Eagles team as a whole. The USA is guaranteed a spot in the Cup Quarterfinals given that even if the Eagles lose to Spain on Saturday (which they shouldn't), Samoa and Australia (both 1-1) will play each other, so you can't have a three-way tie at 2-1.
Fiji in Pool A, England and South Africa in Pool B, and Argentina in Pool D are also all undefeated.
