Five College Games To Watch And Our Picks

Five College Games To Watch And Our Picks

We look at the D1 college games this weekend, and make our picks.

Five College Games To Watch And Our Picks

We made predictions on 29 games that actually produced results last week (two were called off), and were right in only 23 of them.

The Pacific Western Conference continued to befuddle us as Stanford beat Nevada and San Francisco State beat Fresno State - just imagine our surprise.

The Florida State upset of Florida International throws the SIRC South into a little less clarity. Now FSU, Central Florida, and FIU are all in with a shot at the playoffs.

This weekend, we've got five games to watch:

UC Davis at San Diego State

This is the game for second in the California Conference. Davis is in good shape to take second if the Aggies win here.

BYU at Colorado State

After crushing Colorado on Thursday, the Cougars can upend a conference champion, and thus emphasize what is an obvious argument that BYU deserves a D1A playoff spot. CSU needs to hang tough.

Florida International at Central Florida

FIU can regain the upper hand in the SIRC South with a win, but UCF finishes strong, the Knights always do, and could be 1st with a win. This is a tough game to pick.

Arkansas at Oklahoma

There's a playoff spot to be hand in the Red River North, and despite everyone but Baylor having a losing record, it could come down to this game. Oklahoma is playing better, and Arkansas has been hit with injuries.

Utah at Arizona

Arizona looked pretty swank in beating UCLA at the StubHub Center last week. Matt Rogers was excellent and scored two tries while Sinclair Clinton has been doing the dirty work as flanker. Coach Sean Duffy said he was thrilled with his team defense.

OK, well now this will be a challenge. This game likely will decide who finishes second in the PAC Rugby Conference, which will probably garner that team a place in the D1A playoffs. It's huge.

We didn't pick the early-week games, and probably just as well. The scores are below. The less said about them, the better.
