The USA Falcons ended the Vina del Mar Sevens in Chile with three victories and a ninth-place finish in what was, overall, an improvement over last week's results in Uruaguay.

At the Punta del Este Sevens, the Falcons won just one game, but this time the USA managed two wins over Colombia and a victory over Paraguay, as well.

The Falcons went 1-2 on Saturday, losing to France 33-7 and falling against Uruguay 17-12. Connor Wallace-Sims, Ben Broselle, and Alex Elkins scored tries in those games for the USA. Then the Americans finished the day with a 28-17 defeat of Colombia. Matt Welmers, Sam Walsh, Zach Webber, and Devin Short all scored tries, and Walsh converted all four.

That put the Americans in the consolation bracket, where they defeated Paraguay 36-10 behind tries from Anthony Salaber, Welmers, Elkin, Short, Walsh, and Webber. In the consolation final (the ninth-10th playoff), the Falcons held off Colombia 14-12.

Walsh ended the tournament with 32 points, and it was a nice finish for the team despite being without Wallace-Sims.

Head coach JD Stephenson was pleased to see his young outfit put together some good performances and had this to say after Saturday's victory over Colombia: “Courageous team effort and great to see the playing group continue to develop."
