It hasn't been an enormously eventful weekend for USA players on professional clubs in Europe, but there are some news items of note, including one especially unhappy piece of information.

AJ MacGinty

AJ MacGinty helped his Sale Sharks beat Harlequins 30-29 on Saturday, but he was not there to see it all end.

MacGinty was perfect on his goal kicking and directed the Sale Sharks' attack nicely, as he has all season.

However, right after having a clearance kick blocked that led to a Harlequins try, MacGinty was injured in a ruck. The whole pileup rolled over onto the flyhalf, and he appeared to injure his knee quite badly. He was taken off the field via stretcher (“as a precaution,” said the Sharks). MacGinty, not slated to join the USA team for the upcoming Americas Rugby Championship, has been excellent for the Sharks. However, this injury is a blow to the club and to the Eagles.

Joe Taufete'e

Despite a try from Joe Taufete’e, Worcester lost 46-25 to Bath on Friday. Andrew Durutalo didn’t play for Worcester. Additionally, Chris Baumann was not used in Leicester’s close win over last-place London Irish on Saturday.

Chris Wyles

On Sunday, Chris Wyles (who received a business award from the RFU for his new beer line), starts at wing for Saracens against Wasps. Titi Lamositele is not in the Saracens' lineup.

Nick Civetta

The Newcastle Falcons host the Exeter Chiefs at Kingston Park, but Falcons lock Nick Civetta isn’t in the lineup. As reported by FloRugby, Civetta is being held out of action after getting a three-week ban for dangerous play.

Blaine Scully

Just after being named to the USA squad for the ARC, Scully was rested for Cardiff against the Ospreys and the Blues lost 29-28 on Saturday. Coincidence? Unlikely. Scully recently signed an extension with the Blues.

Greg Peterson

The Glasgow Warriors lock did start on Saturday, and Glasgow won 40-20 over Zebre in the Pro 14. Peterson was among the leading tacklers for the Warriors on the night.

France

French rugby is starting to get full of Americans, but none of them saw action this weekend. In the Top 14, Samu Manoa was rested in his Toulon team's 13-12 loss to Brive

Narbonne's David Tameilau and Siaosi Mahoni and Vannes' Eric Fry also didn't play in the Pro D2. Nafi Maafu (Perpignan) and former USA U20 captain Christian Ostberg (Aurillac) also did not play.
