It's pretty difficult for a freshman to walk onto campus and start for a major college rugby program, let alone be among the top players. However, a handful of first-year players from across the country proved to be the exception to that rule for their teams this past weekend.

Troy Oswald
Making his debut for James Madison and playing hooker, Oswald was a revelation as JMU defeated Virginia 22-13.Charlie White
The new No. 8 for Fordham, White was strong on defense and in attack so far this season for Fordham.Brian Stella
The Penn State freshman was a center for Doylestown last year and now is playing wing for Penn State. In his debut, he scored four tries in the Nittany Lions' 55-23 defeat of Dartmouth.Will Vakalahi
Converted from No. 8 (where he played for Penn High School) to prop, Vakalahi was still a monster in a close losing effort for Davenport against Notre Dame College.Cory Levy
