It was the kind of risky play that makes coaches put their hands on their heads at first, only to then pump their fists in the air when it ends up working.

With the game still close at the Denver 7s this past weekend, Kansas City Sporting Club Academy player Patrick McElroy looked to be ready to set up a run-of-the-mill tap penalty move. But the New Mexico Brujos weren't banking on a surprise move by the scrumhalf.

McElroy turned it all around with a kick over the top (that's the point when coaches get nervous because he kicked the ball away during a sevens game, when possession is king) and then executed a perfect chase and catch (thanks to an ideal bounce).

In the end, it all worked out for the Lindenwood University halfback in a nice piece of skill.
