Beirne returns to captain Munster against Ulster in Saturday's United Rugby Championship Round 3 clash at Affidea Stadium. Munster enters the derby with momentum after beating the Bulls 26-22 last weekend, while Ulster is looking to bounce back from a 33-33 draw against Glasgow Warriors.
Munster head coach Clayton McMillan has named JJ Hanrahan at fly-half alongside Craig Casey, while Beirne partners Evan O'Connell in the second row. McMillan praised the competition for places in his squad following the opening two rounds as Munster prepares for its first Irish derby of the season.
