Munster Rugby doesn't get much time to ease into the new United Rugby Championship season. Waiting at Thomond Park in Round 1 is the team that finished atop the table last season.
The Glasgow Warriors finished the 2025-26 regular season in first place with 65 points before reaching the semifinals, while Munster finished fifth and exited in the quarterfinals. Recent history also favors Glasgow, which has won three straight meetings against Munster, including a 31-22 victory at Scotstoun Stadium in January.
Round 1 brings milestones and debuts on both sides. Jamie Dobie is set to make his 100th appearance for Glasgow, while Gregor Hiddleston is set for his 50th. Munster has Kieran Brookes and Marnus van der Merwe making their club debuts in the matchday 23, while Charlie O'Shea could make his Munster debut from the bench. Ben O'Donovan makes his first start at scrum-half.
