Another round of Top 14 action took place, with Stade Rochelais defeating Toulon by one point to solidify a 2-0 start and third place in the table.
These games were dominated by standout performances, but three players in particular stood out to the crew at TRO. Here were their picks for the Player Of The Week in rugby.

Kalvin Gourgues, Toulouse, Centre
Kalvin Gourgeus was the only player in the Top 14 to be chosen as a nominee for Player Of The Week, and for good reason.
He powered Toulouse to a 48-12 beatdown of Bordeaux, finishing with 13 carries for 107 meters, a try, a try assist and 12 tackles.
Gourgeus had a masterful performance, starting the 48-12 try-fest and leading Toulouse to a bounce back win in Round 2.

Morne van den Berg, Springboks, Scrum-Half
The man Mike Friday nicknamed “Mighty Mouse,” helped lead the Springboks to a win over the All Blacks in the US, and giving South Africa the 3-1 series win in the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series.
His passing, a clutch try early in the game and an important turnover win proved to be crucial in securing the win for South Africa.
The Springboks may not get the job done without Van den Berg, making his nomination for Player Of The Week an easy one.
Kurt-Lee Arendse, Springboks, Wing
Kurt-Lee Arendse’s electric performance was crucial in leading the Springboks to a 43-28 win over their rivals.
Every time he touched the ball, he made an offensive impact. 170 meters gained, 4 line breaks and a try late in the second half solidified the win for Springboks.
He’s a veteran of the team, having played for the Springboks since 2022, and his impact is felt every time he’s on the pitch.
Who Did The Rugby Odds Crew Pick For Their Player Of The Week?
- Mike Friday: Kurt-Lee Arendse
- King Gift Egbelu: Morne van den Berg
- Matt McCarthy: Morne van den Berg
