Racing 92 finished fifth in the 2025-26 regular season, while Bordeaux-Bègles finished eighth.
That left Racing in the Top 14 playoff field and Bordeaux on the outside looking in.

The teams split their two meetings last season, and neither game lacked scoring.
Racing 92 won 44-32 at home in September before Bordeaux answered emphatically with a 62-20 victory at home in January.
