Vannes Built A Much Deeper Roster For 2026-27
Twenty-one of the 23 players used in the Pro D2 final remain, including 14 of 15 starters. Mako Vunipola was the only starter from that XV to leave.
Vannes then reinforced nearly every layer of the squad. Matías Alemanno arrived with 99 Argentina caps, while Ugo Boniface, Giorgi Beria and Sione Mafileo strengthen the front row.
Simione Kuruvoli adds another international option at scrum-half. Pierre Popelin, Inia Tabuavou, Nathanaël Hulleu and Joe Jonas increase competition in the backs.
The appeal is simple: Vannes did not replace its promotion team. It added to it.
Stade de la Rabine Could Become One Of The Season's Best Survival Stories
Vannes went 15-0 in home-designated regular-season matches in 2025-26, including 14 wins at Stade de la Rabine.
That record will be much harder to approach in the Top 14, but home form may determine whether Vannes survives.
The club's Breton reach is also growing. A relocated match against Grenoble in Rennes drew close to 30,000 supporters, and Vannes will again take a designated home fixture to Roazhon Park in 2026-27.
