Wales arrives after splitting its opening two fixtures, defeating Fiji before falling to Argentina in Round 2. The Welsh remain in the middle of the Northern Hemisphere table but now face their toughest challenge of the tournament against a South African side riding a five-match winning streak.

Recent history heavily favors the Springboks, who have won each of the past five meetings between the nations. South Africa defeated Wales 73-0 and 45-12 in last year's November internationals, while the Springboks also claimed comfortable victories throughout 2022 and 2023.
