Two of the world’s best rugby teams, hailing from different continents, will clash Friday in the 2026 United Rugby Championship Grand Final, where history is on the line for both teams.
First, is Leinster Rugby, the competition’s reigning champion and all-time winningest team. The squad will enter Dublin’s Croke Park looking to secure a record-extending 10th URC title.
The Vodacom Bulls will make a cross-hemisphere trip from South Africa hoping to claim the championship after falling short in three previous opportunities, including last year against Leinster.
Fans in the United States can watch all the action live on FloRugby and the FloSports app, beginning Friday at 2:25 p.m. Eastern.

- Who Has The Better Attack: Leinster Rugby Or The Vodacom Bulls?
Both finalists have proven their dominance, this season and in previous years, but when it comes to getting it done with everything on the line, they’ve gone in different directions.
Since a major shift in the competition format for the 2001-2002 season, Leinster has played for the title 14 previous times, winning nine of them, including four consecutively from the 2017-2018 campaign through the 2020-2021 season.
The modern URC was born in 2021 and welcomed new teams from South Africa. Among them was the Bulls, hailing from Pretoria, and the team’s impact was immediate.
This year, the Bulls will be making their fourth appearance in the Grand Final and looking to avenge a trio of losses to three different teams. The first came in an all-South Africa showdown with the DHL Stormers, who won 18-13 to conclude the 2021-2022 season.
After the Stormers were denied back-to-back championships by Munster, the Bulls took the job by the horns for the next two seasons but fell to the Glasgow Warriors (2023-2024) and Leinster (2024-2025).
The Bulls’ loss to Leinster last year was the most lopsided of the bunch, a 32-7 beating, also at Croke Park.
There’s no doubt that loss will be fresh on their minds as the make the long journey from South Africa – more than 8,800 miles by car and almost 6,000 miles by plane. That gives them nearly 12 hours in the air to think things over.
As reported by FloRugby’s Joe Harrington earlier this week, the two teams headed into this grand rematch have spent the season overwhelming opponents in different ways.
Leinster has relied on relentless pressure, precision and depth throughout the lineup, while the Bulls have combined physicality with explosive playmakers capable of turning small opportunities into points.
Leinster (12-0-6 with 63 points) finished second in the regular-season URC standings this year behind Glasgow, while the Bulls (12-0-6 with 59 points) were fourth, one spot behind the Stormers.
Offensively this year, the Bulls finished the 18-match, 16-team regular season with a URC-best 566 points scored, and Leinster ranked third with 515. They allowed 406 and 370 points, respectively, ranking third and seventh.
Eight teams reached this year’s URC playoffs, with Leinster defeating the Fidelity SecureDrive Lions in the quarterfinals (59-10) and the Stormers in the semifinals (20-11). The Bulls outlasted Munster (45-14) and Glasgow (22-21).
How The United Rugby Championship Season Works
The United Rugby Championship is a 16-team competition that includes four teams from Wales, four teams from Ireland, four teams from South Africa, two teams from Scotland and two teams from Italy.
After 18 rounds of regular-season play, eight teams qualify for the knockout-style playoffs.
The top four teams in the final league table earn the opportunity to host quarterfinal matches. No. 1 hosts No. 8, No. 2 hosts No. 7 and so on.
The four quarterfinal winners advance to the semifinals. The higher seeds in each contest host the semifinals.
The semifinal winners advance to the URC Grand Final, where the overall champion is crowned.
