The 2025-2026 Top 14 playoffs are winding down, and only four teams remain in contention for this year’s title.
Top-seeded Toulouse is back in the mix, with Racing 92, Montpellier and Stade Français all looking to dethrone the three-time defending champions.
Both semifinals will take place this weekend (June 19-20) at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille, France, and all of the action will unfold live on FloRugby and the FloSports app for fans in the United States and Canada.

Friday’s semifinal will feature No. 1 Toulouse against No. 5 Racing 92, with kickoff set for 3:05 p.m. Eastern.
No. 2 Montpellier and No. 3 Stade Français will take the pitch Saturday at 3:05 p.m. EDT.
The winning teams then will have less than a week to prepare for the season’s final showdown, which will happen at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, just outside Paris, on June 27.
Toulouse is the winningest team in Top 14 history and looking for a record-extending 25th championship, along with a fourth consecutive title for the second time in the league’s storied history.
The team’s first four-peat came from 1994-1997 and during a crucial time in Top 14's evolution, with the league shifting from amateur to professional status. Additional wins followed in 1999 and 2001.
Since 1996, the Top 14 has been in what is known as its professional era, which includes fewer eligible teams, compensation for the players, elevated talent and facilities, a bigger international footprint, major sponsors and enhanced broadcasting opportunities.
Racing 92 is not unfamiliar with hoisting the coveted Bouclier de Brennus, the trophy awarded to the champion each year, but it has been a while.
The squad actually was the first to claim the shield, doing so in 1892, but only one of Racing 92’s six championships has come since the turn of the century. That was in 2016.
Montpellier finished four points behind Toulouse on the Top 14 table this year (86-82), but it was enough to lock up the second automatic spot in the semifinals. The two were followed in the standings by Stade Français (79), Pau (78), Racing 92 (74) and La Rochelle (72).
Clermont was the first team out with 71 points, and Bordeaux Bègles was next with 70. Though they both missed the Top 14 playoffs, they will join the six playoff teams in next year’s European Rugby Champions Cup.
The lifespan of Montpellier is shorter by almost a century, as the team wasn’t founded until 1986. Toulouse is the second-youngest squad and was established in 1907, while Racing 92 and Stade Français established their roots in 1882 and 1883, respectively.
Stade Français ranks second on the all-times wins list with 14 Top 14 championships, though the team last reached the mountaintop in 2015.
Montpellier has one title, which came in front of 78,245 fans in 2022, plus runner-up finishes to Toulouse (2011) and Castres Olympique (2018).

This season, Toulouse had 18 wins and eight losses on the way to a table-topping 86 points.
Toulouse scored a league-best 981 points, more than 100 better than Stade Français (869), while allowing 617, the second-fewest behind Montpellier (587).
In its last five Top 14 contests, from April through June, Toulouse is 2-3 and coming off a loss to Racing 92 on June 6.

The team heads into this week’s matchup with Stade Français riding a seven-match Top 14 winning streak, including a 28-25 win over Lyon in Round 26.

During the 2025-2026 Top 14 season, Stade Français tallied 15 wins, 10 losses and a draw, while ranking second in match points scored with 869. The offensive success helped the team to 79 points and third place in the standings.
The performance was enough to make the playoffs, but not earn a bye, so Stade Français needed one more win to continue its quest for league title No. 15, and the first since 2015.
That victory came in a clash against Stade Rochelais on June 14, where Stade Français avenged a Round 26 loss with a lopsided 45-5 quarterfinal win.

Racing 92
Racing 92 was perhaps the definition of steady this season, winning 16 matches, losing nine and tying one time, while scoring 828 points and giving up 723 to land in the fifth spot in the Top 14 table.
In last weekend’s quarterfinals, two of the oldest teams in the league faced off for the second semifinal berth, with Racing 92 edging Pau 33-31.
Despite leading 33-17 late in the game, Racing 92 had to lean on its defense to stop the late Pau comeback.
It was Pau’s first playoff appearance since returning to the Top 14 in 2015, and Racing 92 entered the contest on the momentum of a convincing and confidence-building win over table-topping Toulouse to end the regular season.
Now, Racing 92 has earned a rematch with Toulouse. It will be their third meeting this season, but it will come with the biggest prize. Each team has won one match this year.

The Top 14 features the best of the best when it comes to French rugby, and it takes almost an entire year of elite and intense competition to crown a champion.
The league’s 14 teams first must endure a 26-match regular season, with six teams advancing to the playoffs, which only span a couple of weeks.
Teams earn points during the regular season for wins and draws, along with bonus points for scoring three or more tries or losing by seven points or fewer.
After 26 rounds of play, the top two teams from the table earn spots in the semifinals, while No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 must play an additional round (No. 3 vs. No. 6; No. 4 vs. No. 5) for a spot in the semifinals.
