The province will host the URC Grand Final against the Vodacom Bulls at Croke Park on June 19, seeking a 10th domestic league title since 2001.
If Bordeaux's playoff collapse feels shocking, Leinster supporters experienced a similar feeling a year ago. The 2025 squad, strengthened by the one-season arrival of All Blacks star Jordie Barrett, was widely viewed as one of the most talented teams assembled in professional club rugby. Yet that team never even reached the Investec Champions Cup Final, falling to Northampton Saints in the semifinals. Bordeaux missing the Top 14 playoffs and Leinster failing to reach the 2025 European final are reminders that being the best team on paper guarantees nothing.
That is what makes the comparison so compelling. Bordeaux has solved Europe before France. Leinster continues to thrive domestically while chasing a European breakthrough. Both clubs have spent recent seasons looking like the best team in their competition only to see the story end somewhere other than where they expected.
