Ireland Rugby is competing in the inaugural 2026 Nations Championship tournament. Ireland’s first match is away against Australia. 

Here’s what you need to know.

Coming off a 24-13 loss to the South Africa Springboks in the Autumn Nations last November, Ireland is looking to bounce back against the Southern Hemisphere in Nations Championship. 

The inaugural Nations Championship season will start on July 4, with 12 nations being represented in the global tournament. Irish Rugby, who are the No. 3 ranked team in the World Rugby Men’s rankings, are amongst favorites to win the tournament.

Teams are split into two groups: the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.

Led by team captain Caelan Doris and coach Andy Farrell, the Irish are aiming to give their best performance for the tournament.
