Sione Tuipulotu enters the URC playoffs as one of the most influential players in the competition and a major reason Glasgow Warriors finished atop the standings this season. The Scotland captain was ranked No. 13 in FloRugby’s Top 100 Rugby Players list after another standout campaign for both club and country.
Tuipulotu has helped transform Glasgow into one of Europe’s most dangerous attacking teams under Franco Smith. His physicality, passing and leadership in midfield have made him central to the Warriors’ rise as genuine URC title contenders, one that culminated with the 2024 URC championship.
Glasgow heads into the postseason after several statement performances, including a dominant victory over Leinster Rugby at Scotstoun Stadium.

The Australia-born center recently revealed on the "Behind the Ruck" podcast that a move to Japan earlier in his career helped save him after struggling to establish himself with the Melbourne Rebels. Tuipulotu spent three seasons with Yamaha Jubilo, now Shizuoka Blue Revs, and said the experience helped him rediscover both confidence and enjoyment in rugby.
Tuipulotu explained that the environment in Japan changed the way he viewed the game and helped him play with more freedom. He said the move came at the right moment in his life and prepared him for the transition to Scotland and eventually Glasgow Warriors.
The Japan Rugby League One playoffs began last week.

Now one of the leaders of Scottish rugby, Tuipulotu enters the playoffs carrying enormous expectations as Glasgow attempts to win another URC championship. Scotstoun Stadium has become one of the toughest road environments in the competition, and much of that confidence begins with the Warriors captain in midfield.
Tuipulotu also remains one of the most respected leaders in international rugby. The Scotland captain said he still approaches the game with the same joy he felt as a child, believing he plays his best rugby when he enjoys the moment and trusts his instincts. That mindset has helped elevate him into one of the defining players of the URC era.
