One of rugby’s best podcasts is now streaming every week on FloRugby as The Rugby Odds has a new streaming home and is available on both FloRugby and the FloSports app.

Matt McCarthy, the hard-working host, and a panel of elite guests break down the biggest matches and moments in the world of rugby. They also hand out weekly awards and, yes, their best bets of the week.

The panel includes WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield — a longtime rugby advocate and seasoned gambler — along with Mike Friday, a three-time Olympic Sevens coach, rugby star King Gift Egbelu and Irish radio legend George Hook.

In partnership with Rugby Wrap Up, FloRugby will also stream the MLR Weekly Podcast, also hosted by McCarthy and featuring guests from Major League Rugby.

The Rugby Odds (S6 Ep. 28)
On this week's episode of The Rugby Odds, fans can see the latest reactions from Rugby Wrap Up's panel of experts, and John "Bradshaw" Layfield.

Mike Friday gives his honest take on the "absolute schemozzle" of a job done by the French broadcast crew as the referees relied on TMO review to make a call in the Investec Champions Cup semifinals.

Matt and JBL decide whether or not Matt knows how to read, and the crew take a look at the week's top three players:

  • Caelan Doris
  • Matthieu Jalibert
  • Maxime Lucu

On this week's GROWN A$$ MAN segment, these three players received the spotlight:

  • Juarno Augustus
  • Mikheil Shioshvili
  • Fraser McReight

Finally, they call out their picks of the weekend for betting on the URC, Premiership Rugby, Super Rugby, and Japan Rugby League One.

How The Rankings Work

These cross-competition power rankings compare professional rugby union clubs across major leagues using a standings-based rating model. Each team’s rating is shaped by record, point differential, league strength, previous rating and major knockout competition status.

Champions Cup semifinalists receive an added boost because those results provide the strongest cross-league signal, while Challenge Cup semifinalists receive a smaller adjustment. The model also uses league-specific caps and movement limits, so strong records in developing or lower-strength competitions do not outweigh proven performance in deeper leagues.

The rankings are meant to estimate current club strength across competitions, not simply mirror domestic league tables.
