No. 5 Auburn Baseball heads to Arlington, Texas, this weekend looking to bounce back after suffering its first loss of the season, an 8-0 setback to Cincinnati on Tuesday night at Plainsman Park.

The Tigers (3-1) opened the year with a three-game sweep of Youngstown State, winning the first two contests 2-1, including a 10-inning victory, before a 17-2 run-rule win in the finale. Auburn’s pitching staff allowed just four total runs in the series and recorded 43 strikeouts.

Auburn will face Kansas State on Friday, No. 9 Florida State on Saturday and No. 8 Louisville on Sunday as part of the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series.

Chase Fralick and Eric Guevara paced the offense after combining for 12 hits on opening weekend. Fralick, a sophomore catcher/infielder, hit .500 with a home run and scored the walk-off run in the 10th inning against Youngstown State. Guevara batted .462 with three doubles.

On the mound, Jake Marciano struck out 12 in five innings in his first Auburn start, while Jackson Sanders and Alex Petrovic each turned in strong outings in the opening series.

Against Cincinnati, Andreas Alvarez struck out eight in his first start of the season, and Bub Terrell collected two doubles in the loss.
