Leinster has been one of the competition’s standard-bearers throughout pool play, opening 3-0-0 and extending a remarkable run of consistency in the Champions Cup. 

The Irish province has not officially lost a pool-stage match since 2021, with that lone blemish coming via a COVID-19 forfeit, and has not been beaten on the field in pool play since the 2018-2019 season. 

A win in France would secure a top-4 seed and could elevate Leinster to the No. 1 overall seed, depending on results involving Bordeaux and Glasgow.

Bayonne’s European campaign has gone the other direction. 

The French side is eliminated from Champions Cup contention and sits last among the 24 teams in the competition. While Challenge Cup qualification remains mathematically possible, the gap in points difference makes the path extremely narrow. 

Still, French clubs long have been difficult to break down at home, and Bayonne will aim to deliver a response in front of its supporters against one of Europe’s most decorated sides.
