The match renews a fixture last seen in European play more than four years ago. 

The clubs last met in December 2020 during Challenge Cup competition, when Leicester claimed a 28-20 victory. Since then, both teams have evolved, but the stakes remain familiar as each looks to revive its Champions Cup campaign.

Leicester enters having won two of its last five matches overall but remains winless in this Champions Cup campaign. 

The Tigers opened with a 39-20 loss to Stade Rochelais in Round 1, before falling 23-15 to Leinster in Round 2. 

Those results leave Leicester needing points quickly to stay competitive in the pool, particularly at home where European performances have historically carried added weight.

Bayonne arrives in similar difficulty, having won just one of its last five matches. 

The French side has also dropped its first two Champions Cup games, losing 26-17 to the Stormers in Round 1 and suffering a heavy 68-14 defeat to Harlequins in Round 2. 

With both teams under pressure, this matchup places emphasis on execution and discipline as pool play progresses.
