Top 14 Club Of The Week: Perpignan Late Surge Downs Table-Topping Toulouse
Perpignan earned a statement 30-27 win over Top 14 leader Toulouse, climbing to 13th place and showing continued progress after a challenging start.

Perpignan continues to build, one result at a time.
After earning their first win of the season against Clermont, the Catalans hit a setback with a 31-16 loss to Toulon. Rather than losing momentum, they responded with their most complete performance yet, knocking off Top 14 leader Toulouse 30-27 last weekend and moving up to 13th place in the standings.

Perpignan set the tone early, opening the match with two penalty goals and a try to claim an 11-0 lead. Toulouse answered before the break, scoring three converted tries to take a 21-11 advantage into halftime.
The gap was real, but so was Perpignan’s composure.
The second half unfolded as a controlled push, rather than a scramble. Perpignan crossed for three tries and added two conversions, while Toulouse was limited to two penalty goals.
The decisive sequence came late, between the 69th and 75th minutes, when sustained pressure finally paid off. Joaquin Oviedo’s try, followed by the conversion, edged Perpignan back in front for good.
It was not perfect, but it was purposeful.
Against the league’s top side, Perpignan stayed connected, managed the moment and finished stronger. The climb from 14th to 13th may be modest on paper, but the trend is clear: Perpignan is competing with intent, and the margins are starting to turn their way.
