Rugby Round-Up Champions Cup Review

Leinster battled back from a sluggish start to claim a 23-15 win over Leicester in a tense Round 2 Champions Cup clash at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

Leicester controlled much of the first half, striking first through Adam Radwan’s electric solo try before Ollie Hassell-Collins finished a pinpoint cross-kick to give the Tigers a 15-6 halftime lead. Leinster stayed afloat through Harry Byrne’s steady penalty kicking but struggled to convert territory into points early on.

The momentum shifted after the break. Jamison Gibson-Park sparked Leinster’s revival with a brilliant try from the base of the scrum, cutting the deficit before Byrne’s 60th-minute penalty gave the visitors their first lead.

With Leicester fading, a clinical lineout maul in the 72nd minute produced Dan Sheehan’s decisive try. Dominating possession and territory throughout, Leinster’s second-half shutout sealed a hard-earned victory and strengthened their push toward early qualification.
