Penn State Wrestling Defeats Drexel 43-3 In Philadelphia Showdown
No. 1 Penn State cruised to a 43-3 victory over co-No. 50 Drexel in a dual meet Friday at the Daskalaskis Athletic Center in Philadelphia.

The top-ranked Penn State wrestling team made a quick trip across Pennsylvania on Friday for a primetime showdown against Drexel at the Daskalaskis Athletic Center in Philadelphia.
As expected, the four-time defending NCAA Division I national champions were dominant in the 10-match dual meet, winning nine of the 10 bouts on the way to a 43-3 team victory.
Despite being located relatively close to each other in the Quaker State, the meeting was only the third in history between the two programs. The first came during the 2002-2003 season, and the most recent was last year on Penn State’s home turf.

PSU won last year’s meeting in similar fashion, a 41-3 win that was part of a 15-0 season that ended with a fourth consecutive NCAA Division I team national championship. Drexel finished last season at 11-10.
This time around, Penn State opened the night with a pair of wins at 125 and 133 pounds, before Drexel senior Jordan Soriano was able to break through at 141 pounds and put the Dragons on the board with an 8-5 win over Penn State redshirt freshman Cael Nasdeo.
The Nittany Lions then rallied to win the final seven matches, including the most anticipated battle of the evening, Penn State senior Levi Haines against Drexel redshirt sophomore Jasiah Queen at 174 pounds.
Haines, the 2024 national champion and now the No. 1 wrestler at 174 pounds, scored a 12-1 major decision over No. 17-ranked Queen.
Though it’s early in the new campaign, both teams have gotten off to strong start in dual competition.
The Dragons entered the night at 2-0 – with wins over Duke (37-4) and Morgan State (38-9) – while Penn State has eased into the new season and was 1-0 in dual meets (a 45-0 season-opening win against Oklahoma) and coming off a dominant performance at the recent Black Knight Invitational in West Point, New York, on Nov. 23.
Friday’s clash at the DAC marked the first home sellout in Drexel wrestling history, and for wrestling fans in the United States who could not be there in person, all of the action was broadcast live on FloWrestling and the FloSports app.
Penn State’s quest for a fifth straight national title, and 13th since 2011, continues Sunday afternoon with a home dual against No. 17-ranked Lehigh.
The Nittany Lions will be back on FloWrestling on Dec. 13 when they travel to face Wyoming. Coverage of that meet will begin at 8 p.m. Eastern.
Drexel will have a break after the Penn State match and won’t wrestle again until visiting Rutgers in New Jersey on Dec. 14.
While Penn State has remained atop the FloWrestling team rankings, the Dragons also have been recognized for their early success and landed at a tie for No. 50 on the most recent 2025-2026 NCAA DI Wrestling Rankings.
