Rugby Today: Autumn Nations Series RD2 Recap

The rugby world turns its eyes to Twickenham Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 15, when England meet New Zealand in one of the sport’s great rivalries.

Kickoff is set for 10:10 a.m. ET (3:10 p.m. GMT), with coverage on Peacock for U.S. fans.

England are chasing a 10th straight win — their longest streak in nearly a decade — while the All Blacks look to maintain dominance in a fixture that’s rarely short on drama.

1. England Are Riding Their Strongest Form Since 2017

Momentum is firmly with the hosts.

England have won nine consecutive matches, their longest unbeaten run in eight years. Over that stretch, they’ve averaged nearly six tries per match while keeping opponents to just over two per game.

Coach Steve Borthwick’s side has developed a more fluid attacking rhythm, with George Ford’s game management and Ben Earl’s all-action support play giving England balance and belief heading into their biggest test of 2025.

2. The All Blacks’ Record Still Intimidates — But Margins Are Slim

New Zealand’s record against England remains formidable — just two losses in their last 21 meetings, alongside a draw.

Yet recent results suggest the gap is closing: each of the last four encounters has been decided by a converted try or less.

While the All Blacks have handled European opposition with ease — 12 wins in 13 since 2024 — Twickenham’s intensity and England’s current form promise a far tighter battle.

3. Savea and Jordan: New Zealand’s Twin Engines

The All Blacks’ attack continues to revolve around Ardie Savea and Will Jordan, who are both enjoying outstanding 2025 seasons.

Savea leads all Tier 1 players in total carries (135) and defenders beaten (37), proving why he’s considered one of rugby’s most complete forwards. Out wide, Jordan remains lethal, topping the charts for carries by a back (109) and line breaks (15).

Containing that duo will be England’s toughest defensive assignment.

4. England’s Pack Is Setting the Standard

Few forward groups in world rugby are performing like England’s.

They’re the only Tier 1 side averaging over four meters per carry (4.2) and boast the best tackle-evasion rate (25%).

Maro Itoje’s leadership and composure complement the raw aggression of Tom Curry and Ben Earl, giving England the tools to counter the All Blacks’ trademark physicality.

Expect this matchup to be won and lost in the collisions and breakdowns.
