The 2025-2026 Investec Champions Cup begins Dec. 5, and we're just 12 days away from the Sale Sharks hosting the Glasgow Warriors at 3 p.m. ET at CorpAcq Stadium.

The Investec Champions Cup will determine the best team in Europe (and South Africa), as every contender aims to take the title from defending champion Union Bordeaux-Bègles of the Top 14.

But like in the film "The Highlander," there can only be one winner. 

Every club will enter the competition believing it can lift the trophy on May 23, 2026, at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain.

And that includes the Glasgow Warriors of the United Rugby Championship. 

Here are three reasons why the Glasgow Warriors can win the 2025-2026 Investec Champions Cup:

They Sell A Pizza At Scotstoun Stadium That Has Haggis As A Topping

No wonder opposing teams can’t win at Scotstoun Stadium — they’re too weighed down from eating the “Highland” pizza at The Pizza Pitch inside the venue. The Highland comes loaded with tomato, mozzarella, bacon, chicken and, of course, haggis.

What is haggis, you ask, aside from being the most Scottish dish of all Scottish dishes?

Haggis is a sausage — though folks across the pond call it a “pudding” — made of sheep’s heart (should I keep going?), liver (I’ll keep going) and lungs (let’s go), mixed with minced onion, oatmeal, and spices. Then they stuff it into an animal’s stomach and boil — yes, boil — it all together. Once cooked, they slice it and, apparently, put it on pizza.

I’m not sure that’s the reason the Glasgow Warriors have lost just two home matches since December 2023, but having haggis on pizza feels perfectly fitting for Scotland’s best club rugby team over the last two years.

Glasgow is the toughest place to place in this competition. 

When you factor in the high-level coaching and three FloRugby Top 100 Players and combine it with a bunch of Scots fueled on haggis pizza, it's tough to lose in Scotstoun.  

And luckily for the Warriors, the toughest match they could play all season, URC or otherwise, will take place in Scotstoun Stadium against Toulouse, and that could be the match Antoine Dupont makes his return.

Maybe he likes haggis?

Franco Smith Is One Of The Best Coaches In Club Rugby

Despite being so Scottish that they serve haggis on pizza at their stadium, the Warriors are coached by former Italian national team boss Franco Smith. 

The 50-year-old South African — who earned nine test caps for the Springboks — coached Italy from 2019 to 2022, before taking over the Warriors in 2022.

Since then, Smith has built the Warriors into the 2024 URC champions and established himself as one of the top club rugby coaches in the world.

Sione Tuipulotu, Huw Jones and Zander Fagerson Are Really Good

The Warriors boast three FloRugby Top-100 players, led by No. 13-ranked Sione Tuipulotu. 

Philip Bendon of FloRugby wrote of the Scotland international:

“Whether setting up teammates or crashing over himself — like in the Hopetoun Cup win over Australia — Tuipulotu brings leadership, skill and relentless energy to every shirt he wears.”

Tuipulotu was born in Melbourne, Australia, but his grandmother is Scottish — and he’s now Scotland’s captain.

Meanwhile, Huw Jones is ranked No. 56, and Zander Fagerson comes in at No. 78 on FloRugby’s Top 100 list.
