The 2025-2026 Investec Champions Cup begins Dec. 5, and we're just 14 days away from the Sale Sharks hosting the Glasgow Warriors at 3 p.m. ET at CorpAcq Stadium.

The Investec Champions Cup will determine the best team in Europe (and South Africa), as every contender aims to take the title from defending champion Union Bordeaux-Bègles of the Top 14.

But like in the film "The Highlander," there can only be one winner. 

Every club will enter the competition believing it can lift the trophy on May 24, 2025, at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain.

And that includes Bristol Bears of Gallagher PREM Rugby. 

Here are three reasons why Bristol Bears can win the 2025-2026 Investec Champions Cup:

There’s a 2-year-old lad in my house whose favorite animal is a bear, and I hear a bear growl at least 30 times a day from the toddler.

At 5:30 a.m.

At 6:45 a.m.

(At daycare)

At 4:30 p.m.

And at various times in the evening.

The kiddo is obsessed with bears.

Therefore, Bristol can win because Teddy’s favorite animal is a bear, he has Bristol Bears merch coming for Christmas and because we’re trying to break a vicious cycle of Harringtons rooting for teams that break our hearts — the Bears can’t lose.

The Bears are 3-0-2 so far in Gallagher PREM Rugby play, one of three teams with that record, but sit on 14 points in the standings. 

They have a favorable start to pool play with the Scarlets in Wales before hosting Pau. 

The 2026 pool matches are brutally tough, featuring a trip to South Africa to face the Bulls before hosting defending champions Bordeaux.

But they have an energetic 2-year-old supporting them — so, there’s that.

Louis Rees-Zammit Is A Bristol Bear

Louis Rees-Zammit, 24, attempted to make the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL, and while it didn’t pan out, one of the best young rugby players in the world is back where he belongs. He recently returned for Wales in the Autumn Nations.

At just 24, Rees-Zammit hadn’t played for Wales in two years and still has more than 30 caps. He’s been adjusting back to rugby life, but one thing is clear — he’s still a huge threat every time he touches the ball.

Expect Rees-Zammit to crack FloRugby’s Top 100 Players list next year.

Ellis Genge Is Awesome at Rugby

The No. 48–ranked player on FloRugby’s Top 100 Players list, Ellis Genge, is one of the best props in the world and one of the stars of season one of Netflix’s Full Contact. He helped Leicester win the Gallagher PREM Rugby title in 2022, and a few months later, he returned to his hometown club, Bristol.
