Canada’s last taste of victory came against the USA in Round 1 of the Pacific Nations Cup, where the Canucks toppled the Eagles 34-20.
But since then, it has been a tough road — four straight losses, capped by a 31-21 defeat to Romania last week. Though Canada matched Romania in tries (3-3), and even outkicked the Romanians on conversions (3-2), costly penalties proved to be Canada's undoing.
Georgia, meanwhile, muscled back into form with a win over the USA, snapping a two-game skid after heavy losses to Ireland (34-5) and South Africa (55-10).
Against the Eagles, the Lelos struck first in a gritty, back-and-forth battle.
A late drop goal from Luke Carty briefly tilted momentum toward the Americans, but Luka Japaridze’s try sealed the deal for Georgia.
Now sitting just one spot outside the world’s top 10, Georgia’s eyes are fixed on climbing the rankings — and building momentum on home soil before the road to the 2031 Rugby World Cup heats up.
For Canada, it’s about breaking the slump and proving it can hang with Europe’s rising power. For Georgia, it’s about dominance, pride and pushing closer to elite status.
Either way, expect a bruising, high-stakes showdown — and a crowd in Tbilisi that’s more than ready for it.
