The 2025-2026 Investec Champions Cup begins Dec. 5 , and we're just 15 days away from the Sale Sharks hosting the Glasgow Warriors at 3 p.m. ET at CorpAcq Stadium.

The Investec Champions Cup will determine the best team in Europe (and South Africa), as every contender aims to take the title from defending champion Union Bordeaux-Bègles of the Top 14.

But like in the film "The Highlander," there can only be one winner. 

Every club will enter the competition believing it can lift the trophy on May 23, 2026, at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain.

And that includes Section Paloise of the Top 14. 

Here are three reasons why Section Paloise can win the 2025-2026 Investec Champions Cup:

The Argentine Captain Julián Montoya Is Really Good

Julián Montoya may be the heart and soul of the Argentina rugby team. The hooker has more than 100 caps and has captained Los Pumas since 2021 — including this Autumn Nations Series.

Montoya, 32, came to Europe in 2021 when he signed with Leicester. After 78 matches and 145 points, he joined Section Paloise (Pau) this offseason as one of the biggest transfer additions of the year.

Montoya reportedly chose Pau over Champions Cup winner Bordeaux and signed a three-year deal.

Montoya came in at No. 90 on FloRugby’s Top 100 list.

Opposing Teams Will Be Too Mesmerized By Pau, France, To Concentrate On The Match

Look, there are a lot of gorgeous places in the rugby world — and in the Investec Champions Cup. Cape Town, London, Toulon, just to name a few. But Pau sits in the Pyrenees Mountains. 

It once was said of Pau, France: “Pau has the world’s most beautiful view of the Earth, just as Naples has the most beautiful view of the sea.”

I believe it. Wikipedia wouldn’t lie to me. 

The Northampton Saints (Dec. 7) and the Vodacom Bulls (Jan. 16) hopefully won’t get too caught up in the scenery.

Pau Is Good — And Julián Montoya Has Only Played In Two Matches

Pau sits third on the Top 14 table with a 6-0-3 record. Pau already earned wins over Toulouse, Bayonne and Stade Français.

Because of The Rugby Championship, Montoya — their marquee offseason addition — has only appeared in two matches. Which means, yes, the team's only going to get better.

Bonus: Pau Or Section Paloise? 

It's pronounced "Po" but, yes, this team has the official name and then the name that everyone calls it. 

The name of the club is Section Paloise, but the team plays in Pau, so that's why it's generally referred to as "Pau."
