The Springboks made a statement in their Northern Hemisphere tour opener, thrashing Japan 61-7 at Wembley Stadium. 

The world's No. 1 team arrived in London on a high, fresh from its Rugby Championship title, and it showed. 

Japan, ranked No. 13, put up a valiant effort, but ultimately was no match for the Springboks' power and speed.

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu set the tone with a quickfire brace in the first half, and Kurt-Lee Arendse added two more tries after the break. 

Wilco Louw, the Springboks' giant prop, also got in on the act, scoring his first try for the Boks. 

Japan's only try came courtesy of Yoshitaka Yazaki, offering some consolation in a one-sided affair.

Springboks 61, Japan 7

The Springboks and Japan met at Wembley Stadium, and while there were some good possessions by the Brave Blossoms, they were mostly outmatched by the power and speed of the South African side. 

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu scored a quick brace in the first half, while Kurt-Lee Arendse added another two tries in the second half. 

Big man Wilco Louw scored his first try for the Springboks, as well. Yazaki scoring a try was the high point for the Brave Blossoms.

Cheslin Kolbe and Kurt-Lee Arendse both use their speed to take the Springboks over 50 points for the day.

Andre Esterhuizen, after being denied a try earlier by a penalty, powers through add another score for the Springboks.

Boks steal a Brave Blossoms line-out, and after the ball bounces around, it ends up in the hands of Kurt-Lee Arendse, who easily takes it across the line. 

The Springboks have slowly, but surely, put up 40 points.

Yoshitaka Yazaki with the quick restart and pushes across the line for the first Japan score of the day.

Japan has not looked completely outmatched and has, at times, put together some good offensive possessions.
