England Rugby Schedule: Two Can't-Miss Matches In The Nations Series

England eyes a top-4 World Rugby ranking in the 2025 Autumn Nations Series, facing Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Argentina with key points on the line.

For the first time since the 2025 Six Nations, the England Rugby team will be whole again in November.

The Nations Series, also known as the Autumn Nations, begins Nov. 1 and features four England matches.

In what will be the final time this test competition operates in its current format, England enters looking to build momentum and strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup draw in December.

Last time fans saw the complete English side was during the Six Nations, where the squad nearly won the tournament after going 4-0-1 and finishing just behind France on points.

Steve Borthwick’s roller coaster tenure as England coach — one that always seems to hang by a thread after each uneven performance — can count that competition as one of its biggest highlights.

Borthwick’s team also had a strong summer, despite missing its biggest stars, who were away on the British and Irish Lions tour.

England surprised many by beating Argentina twice in South America, before closing the tour with a win over the United States.

The Autumn Nations includes four England matches that will come against Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and, for the third time this year, Argentina.

This will be the final year the Nations Series takes this form.

Starting in 2026, the competition will feature three rounds in July and four in November, with the six Six Nations teams meeting the four SANZAAR sides (South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Argentina), along with Fiji and Japan.

The Nations Series will conclude with a championship match in London in 2026 and Doha in 2028. The event will be held every two years.

But first comes 2025.

England still has work to do before the 2027 Rugby World Cup draw — and a chance to climb into the top four of the World Rugby Rankings.

England vs. Australia Rugby, Round 1, Nov. 1, 11:10 a.m. ET

One of the best matches in 2024 international rugby was Australia’s stunning 42-37 win over England at Twickenham Stadium.

That match ended with a Max Jorgensen try in the 83rd minute, giving Australia its first victory at Twickenham since 2015. Joseph Sua’ali’i also made his Wallabies debut that day.

Almost a year later, we’re back at Twickenham to start the month.

Since beating England, the Wallabies have recorded wins over Wales, the British and Irish Lions, the No. 1-ranked Springboks and Argentina. They couldn’t manage a win against New Zealand, but both Rugby Championship matches against the All Blacks — along with a narrow three-point loss to then-No. 1 Ireland — showed how close they are to breaking through.

This is a different England team, though, and one that should be deeper after players not involved with the Lions gained valuable experience this summer.

England vs. Argentina, Round 4, Nov. 23, 11:10 a.m. ET

Don’t get us wrong — the England–New Zealand match will be wild. But that game means much more for New Zealand than it does for England.

The All Blacks are the No. 2 team in the world, and while it would be difficult for them to fall out of the top four in the rankings, it’s not impossible.

England, meanwhile, enters the Autumn Nations just ahead of Argentina in points, 87.64 to 83.82. The two sides sit fifth and sixth in the world, respectively.

To move into the top 4, England needs to catch France — and the margin between the two is razor-thin. That final match Nov. 23 will carry plenty of weight.

To make matters worse, England beat Los Pumas twice in July and will be eager for payback.
