The 2025-2026 club season is heating up fast, with Round 3 of both the United Rugby Championship and Gallagher Premiership delivering another weekend stacked with international talent.

A host of British and Irish Lions, Springboks and Pumas will headline the action as their clubs continue to build momentum ahead of the November internationals.

United Rugby Championship

Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh, will field Lions’ powerhouse prop Pierre Schoeman when his side takes on Munster Rugby in Cork.

Joining Schoeman in the pack was Lions' late call-up in hooker Ewan Ashman. The powerful front-row duo remain central to Sean Everitt’s plans as the Scots look to cement their early-season form.

On the wings, Duhan van der Merwe and Darcy Graham join their fellow Lions in the starting XV.

Scott Cummings and Sione Tuipulotu will front up for the Glasgow Warriors, as Franco Smith’s side look to get back on track following a loss to Benetton.

Cummings brings his usual authority at line-out time, while Tuipulotu’s sharp distribution and defensive bite continue to underline why he has become one of Scotland’s most valuable assets.

In Dublin, Leinster Rugby once again fields a star-studded Lions contingent.

Ronan Kelleher returns at hooker, Tadhg Furlong anchors the scrum, Josh van der Flier provides his relentless work rate on the flank and James Lowe adds the cutting edge out wide.

It’s a reminder of Leinster’s enviable depth and why the team remain the URC’s benchmark for consistency.

Among the reigning world champions, Jean Kleyn features for Munster Rugby after an industrious start to the season. The bruising lock has been a steadying presence in the Munster pack since returning from South Africa duty.

In Llaneli, the DHL Stormers unleash Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Damian Willemse, two of South Africa’s most exciting young backs.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s dominant run in The Rugby Championship was in part down to his brilliant dual playmaking combination with Willemse.

Starting at fly-half and fullback, respectively, the pair have the potential to wreak havoc and keep their team unbeaten.

Meanwhile, the Vodacom Bulls are stacked with Springboks, as Johan Ackermann's side looks to tighten its defense, while keeping the flowing attack game in place.

Gerhard Steenekamp, Johann Grobbelaar, Marco van Staden, Wilco Louw, Handre Pollard, Canan Moodie and Jan Hendrik Wessels all are involved, giving the Bulls one of the most international-heavy sides in the competition.

Gallagher Prem

Across the channel, the Gallagher Premiership also is flush with international quality.

Luke Cowan-Dickie will lead from the front for the Sale Sharks, his scrummaging and breakdown work pivotal in the northern clash.

At Ashton Gate, the Bristol Bears have named England’s Ellis Genge at loosehead for their clash with the Exeter Chiefs. The Lions test star adds his trademark aggression up front, as Pat Lam’s side looks to bounce back from a heavy defeat against Saracens.

The Northampton Saints again will lean on their quartet of Lions and England stars Alex Mitchell, Fin Smith, Tommy Freeman and Henry Pollock.

Mitchell’s tempo, Smith’s creativity and Freeman’s finishing remain central to one of the Premiership’s most entertaining attacks.

Bath Rugby boasts both Lions and Pumas influence this weekend, with Will Stuart and Finn Russell featuring alongside Argentina’s Santiago Carreras. For the Argentine, he will face his former club, Gloucester, in what will be his Bath debut at The Rec.

With so many international stars on show, Round 3 promises another weekend of high-quality rugby, a showcase of why the URC and Gallagher Prem remain among the most talent-rich competitions in the sport.
