The South Africa Springboks hold off the Argentina Pumas 29-27 to claim back-to-back Rugby Championship titles in a dramatic finale at Twickenham.

South Africa clinched its second straight Rugby Championship title with a hard-fought 29-27 win over Argentina at Twickenham.

In a contest that swung with momentum, the Springboks overcame an early yellow card and a halftime deficit behind tries from Cobus Reinach and Malcolm Marx, whose maul power again proved decisive. 

Argentina stayed in the fight through the boot and playmaking of Santiago Carreras and late brilliance from Rodrigo Isgro, but missed chances — including a crucial penalty off the upright in the final minutes — left them just short.

The result capped an intense championship campaign, with South Africa sealing back-to-back titles after a season defined by comeback wins and forward dominance.

End Of Game: South Africa Wins Rugby Championship

Final: Springboks 29, Argentina 27

The South Africa Springboks had the fate of the 2025 Rugby Championship in their hands, and they will bring home the title for the second year in a row after defeating Los Pumas. 

In what probably is the most competitive Rugby Championship ever, South Africa is able to notch the back-to-back titles.

It feels like ages since the opening week of the competition, when the Boks dropped a fantastic game against Australia in mid-August. But there were memorable moments throughout the tourney, including Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu's breakout last week. 

Today, though, two tries each from Reinach and Marx brings home The Rugby Championship for the Bokke. 

Beautiful Argentina Try To End Game - 80'

The Pumas can't win the game, but they end on a high-note, with a Carreras cross-kick finding Rodridgo Isgro for a try. 

Carreras Misses Penalty! - 77'

Santi Carreras could've put Los Pumas within one score of taking the lead with three minutes to go, but he misses the penalty as it bounces off the upright. 

Solo Try From Delguy - 65'

Bautista Delguy scores and brings the lead down to nine points for the Springboks. The bonus point disappears for now. 

Santiago Carreras makes the conversion. 

Marx Adds One More! - 57'

The Boks continue to pile on points as they look to go back-to-back at The Rugby Championship. 

This score from Malcolm Marx adds the bonus point, which they don't need, but would make them the sole points leaders.

The Bokke pad their lead, and the TRC title is in view, if they can hold on.

Springboks are going for their third scrum at the Argentina 5m area in the last few minutes. They have been just held up by the Pumas during this offensive push.

Los Pumas continue to stack on points, little by little, as Santiago Carreras puts a kick through the uprights. 

No desperation yet from the Springboks. One feels their mistakes, including the early yellow, have been the primary reason they haven't scored try yet.

Springboks have started looking a lot stronger the last five minutes or so. Damian Willemse and Sacha both had great line-breaks. 

Feels like it's only a matter of time before the Boks score.
