Gloucester fell to the Sale Sharks in Round 1, though Jack Clement stood out with 17 carries and three dominant contacts, while Seb Atkinson beat eight defenders to spark their attack. 

Tomos Williams also contributed 14 kicks for 321 meters, part of a strong overall kicking game.

Northampton, meanwhile, let a commanding lead slip against Exeter Chiefs in a dramatic 33-33 draw. 

Callum Chick carried a round-high 21 times with six dominant contacts, while George Hendy beat more defenders than anyone else in Round 1 with nine. 

Edoardo Todaro also made his mark with two tries and four initial breaks, showing the attacking firepower Saints can bring with ball in hand.

Gloucester has turned Kingsholm into a fortress in recent years and is chasing an eighth straight home victory, a streak the team has not managed since 2011. The squad also did the double over Saints last season. 

With both clubs eager to bounce back, this clash sets up as a defining early-season test.
