One month of ruthless play against the top rugby teams in the world culminates this Saturday, Sept. 27, in the Women’s Rugby World Cup final between No. 2 Canada and No. 1 England.
The matchup sold out Twickenham’s 82,000-capacity Allianz Stadium. In the semifinals, Canada beat New Zealand 34-19 and England topped France 35-17. The Rugby World Cup comes only once every four years, and these top teams will leave everything they have on the pitch.

England, led by head coach John Mitchell, enters the final on a 32-match winning streak. The Red Roses have claimed two Rugby World Cup titles (1994 and 2014) and have appeared in the last seven finals.
Canada, meanwhile, is hungry for their first championship. The Canucks reached their only prior final in 2014, also against England, who won 21-12. Canada also finished fourth in 1998, 2002, 2006, and 2021.
Canada last beat England in 2016 but has since dropped 13 straight matchups. Their latest meeting came in Vancouver during WXV rugby, where England pulled out a 21-12 win despite trailing 12-7 at halftime.
The day’s doubleheader begins with No. 3 New Zealand vs. No. 4 France for bronze at 7:30 a.m. ET, followed by the final at 11 a.m. ET.
