The Vodacom Bulls come into the new URC season after a dominant 2024–25 campaign that saw them finish second in the league table and reach the Grand Final, where they fell to Leinster 32–7.

It was their most complete season since joining the URC, built on consistency at Loftus Versfeld and a forward pack that wore down opponents.

Their balanced attack and physical set-piece carried them to 16 wins in 18 regular-season matches.

Founded in 1998 as part of South Africa’s entry into Super Rugby, the Bulls rebranded into the Vodacom Bulls in 2005. They became a powerhouse in the Super 14 era, winning titles in 2007, 2009, and 2010. After Super Rugby, the Bulls transitioned into the URC in 2021 and have remained one of the strongest South African franchises. With a proud history of producing Springboks from Victor Matfield to Handré Pollard, they are known for a bruising, physical identity centered around power rugby.

Statistically, the Bulls were among the best attacking sides in 2024–25, scoring 616 points and 81 tries, ranking them fourth in attack. Their pack dominated scrums, winning 94% and forcing 49 penalties. Lineouts were also a strength, securing 284 wins with 26 steals. However, discipline remains a concern, as the Bulls led the league with 19 yellow cards and four reds. On defense, they slipped slightly with just a 77% tackle success rate. If they can tighten discipline and raise defensive efficiency, they look well-placed for another title push.

Cameron Hanekom (No. 83) – A rising star in the back row, Hanekom combines relentless work rate with powerful ball-carrying.

Together, Pollard, Arendse, and Hanekom provide a balance of veteran leadership, electric pace, and young dynamism, underscoring why the Bulls are built to contend at the highest level.
