DHL Stormers Aim To Rebound In 2025--26 United Rugby Championship
Previewing DHL Stormers’ 2025–26 URC season with stats, history, key players, and full schedule.

The DHL Stormers are coming off a campaign that saw them finish fifth in the United Rugby Championship table with 11 wins, seven losses, and 59 points.
Their season ended in the quarterfinals with a loss to Glasgow Warriors, but the side again showed flashes of the form that won them the inaugural URC title in 2021–22.

The Stormers also remain regulars in the Investec Champions Cup, where they continue to test themselves against Europe’s best.
Founded in 1997 as part of South Africa’s professional rugby restructure, the Stormers became a mainstay in Super Rugby before shifting to the URC in 2021. Since then, they have established themselves as one of the premier sides in the competition, winning the first edition and finishing runners-up the following season.
The team is based at DHL Stadium in Cape Town, and has long been a proving ground for South African internationals. Legendary names such as Siya Kolisi, Bryan Habana and Jaque Fourie have worn the Stormers jersey, while today’s squad features Springboks like Damian Willemse.
Statistically, the Stormers attack remained one of the strongest in 2024–25, scoring 525 points and 68 tries while making 181 clean breaks. However, their defense struggled, with just a 76% tackle success rate, the lowest in the league. The scrum was also inconsistent, winning only 84% of their feeds. Discipline is another area to improve after conceding 174 penalties and earning 10 yellow and 2 red cards.
On the positive side, their lineout was highly efficient, winning 268 throws at 89%. With attacking threats like Leolin Zas—one of the league leaders in clean breaks—the Stormers will look to tighten their defensive and set-piece consistency to challenge for silverware again.
