The Ospreys endured another challenging campaign in 2024–25, finishing 12th in the United Rugby Championship table with an 8–10 record and 40 points. 

They missed out on the playoffs but showed glimpses of potential, particularly with improved attacking balance compared to previous years. In Europe, the Ospreys remained stuck in the middle tier, never fully threatening a deep run in the Challenge Cup.

This is still one of the proudest Welsh regions, forged in 2003 from the merger of Neath and Swansea RFC. The Ospreys dominated the Celtic League/Pro12 in the 2000s, winning four titles (2005, 2007, 2010, 2012), and famously defeated Australia in 2006. They have produced a steady pipeline of international stars, with 17 British and Irish Lions coming through "Ospreylia" since their formation. 

Legends such as Shane Williams, Gavin Henson and Dan Biggar left their mark, while the current squad continues to supply the Welsh national team with leaders like captain Jac Morgan and hooker Dewi Lake.

Statistically, the Ospreys sat mid-to-lower table in most categories last year. They scored 437 points and 60 tries, ranking 10th in attack. Their defense was sturdier, with 2,772 tackles made and an 80% tackle success rate, though turnovers won (98) lagged behind other teams. At the set piece, they excelled in lineouts with a 91% success rate (273 won, 28 lost), but scrums were less efficient at 90% won. 

Discipline was a concern: 190 penalties conceded and 44 scrum offences. With kicker Dan Edwards finishing fourth overall in URC points (120), they have a reliable boot to build around heading into 2025–26.
