Zebre Parma enter the 2025–2026 United Rugby Championship season looking to shake off their long-standing struggles at the bottom of the table. Last year, Zebre finished 15th in the 16-team competition with just one win and nine total points across 18 matches. 

Despite flashes of promise in attack, they couldn’t consistently convert territory into victories. This campaign will once again be about growth, development, and finding stability.

The club’s story is unique within the URC. Founded as an invitational side in 1973, Zebre became professional in 2012 when they joined the Pro12. The franchise, representing Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Lombardy, and Piedmont, was rebranded Zebre Parma in 2021–22. They have consistently provided Italian internationals like Alessandro Fusco, Jacopo Trulla, and Luca Morisi, but in URC play they’ve mostly finished in 15th or 16th. Still, the team plays a vital role in developing players for the Italian national side.

Statistically, Zebre show a mixed profile. They ranked last in scoring last season with 302 points and 38 tries. Their defense conceded heavily, finishing with a 78% tackle rate. Scrums were steady (92% success, 18 penalties won), while lineouts were a weakness at just 82% success. Discipline also troubled them with 197 penalties conceded. 

Yet, there were bright spots: Simone Gesi was among the URC’s top five for clean breaks, and their kicking game produced four tries.
