Edinburgh Rugby 2025-2026 URC Preview, Schedule & Watch Guide

Edinburgh return for the 2025–26 United Rugby Championship after a solid campaign in which they reached the playoffs. The Scottish capital side finished seventh in the table with 10 wins, eight losses and 15 bonus points, collecting 55 points overall.

Their run ended in the quarterfinals, but the consistency shown marked another year of steady progress in the competition.

Founded from the historic Edinburgh District team, Edinburgh Rugby’s roots trace back to 1872. The club was part of the inaugural Celtic League in 2001 and has since been a fixture in the URC and European competitions. Their best league finish came in 2019–20, when they topped the table before falling in the semifinals. Edinburgh also reached the EPCR Challenge Cup final in 2015, cementing their reputation as Scotland’s other powerhouse alongside Glasgow Warriors.

Statistically, Edinburgh’s 2024–25 campaign highlighted a balanced profile. In attack, they scored 504 points and 71 tries, ranking in the middle of the pack but showing strike power through wide channels. Darcy Graham led from the backline, finishing second in the URC in clean breaks. On defense, they were resilient, recording 2,860 tackles with an 82% success rate. Set pieces were steady, with a 93% scrum success rate and an 87% lineout success.

Discipline, however, was a concern: Edinburgh conceded 186 penalties and drew 14 yellow cards.

FloRugby Top 100 Players On Edinburgh

Edinburgh enter the season with two players featured in FloRugby’s Top 100 list. Both are lethal finishers and central to Scotland’s international attack:

  • Darcy Graham (No. 81)
  • Duhan van der Merwe (No. 88)

These two wings provide Edinburgh with world-class firepower out wide, capable of turning half-chances into points. Graham’s footwork and van der Merwe’s power make for a balanced threat that few URC defenses can contain. Their presence ensures Edinburgh have strike runners who can change games in tight contests.
