Benetton Rugby 2025--26 URC Preview: Roster, Stats And How To Watch

Benetton Rugby capped off the 2024–25 United Rugby Championship campaign with a 10th-place finish, ending with an 8–1–9 record and 47 points. That was enough to place them mid-table but outside of the playoff spots, a sign of both their competitiveness and the fine margins that separate URC contenders.

They showed flashes of attacking promise, scoring 393 points and 50 tries, but struggled to consistently turn performances into wins against higher-ranked opponents.

Founded in 1932, Benetton Rugby is one of Italy’s most storied clubs, with deep roots in both the amateur and professional eras. The Treviso-based side dominated Italian rugby before joining the Celtic League in 2010, laying the foundation for their current URC status.

Their crowning achievement came in 2021 when they lifted the Pro14 Rainbow Cup, a breakthrough for Italian club rugby on the international stage. Over decades, Benetton has supplied a steady stream of players to the Italian national side, while also welcoming global stars.

Statistically, Benetton were a balanced side in 2024–25 but faced challenges in key areas. Their attack ranked 15th in the league with 5930 metres gained, showing their ability to work the field but without the finishing consistency of top contenders.

Defensively, they posted a 79% tackle success rate with 2944 total tackles, a figure that kept them competitive but not dominant. Their set piece was strong, winning 94% of scrums and 86% of lineouts, while discipline was a concern, conceding 153 penalties and earning 11 yellow cards.

The blend of steady scrummaging, a solid lineout core led by Federico Ruzza, and an aggressive back row keeps them dangerous but still in search of consistency.
