World Rugby Rankings: South Africa Reclaims No. 1 After Beating All Blacks
South Africa overtakes New Zealand in the World Rugby Rankings after a 43-10 win. See how Argentina, Australia and the USA shifted this week.

South Africa beat New Zealand 43-10 in their latest matchup, ending the All Blacks’ three-week run at the top of the World Rugby Rankings.
The Springboks shot back to No. 1 after a hard-fought match against the now No. 3 All Blacks, a welcome recovery after their fall to Australia in round one. Starting the game with a close 7-10 half, the Boks came roaring back with five tries in the second, and the All Blacks couldn’t put any points on the board in return. One of the heaviest defeats in All Blacks history, the Springboks gained 2.25 points from the match.

Argentina and Australia have switched places in the rankings and now sit at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively. The two faced off in Sydney, where Argentina left victorious in a 28-26 win, causing the Wallabies to lose 1.56 points.
The USA took home a win against Samoa in Denver. The Eagles started the second half leading 8-6, but Samoa regained the advantage. Samoa’s five-point lead reinvigorated the Eagles, who immediately snapped back to eventually snag the 29-13 win. The USA moved up from No. 19 to No. 16, while Samoa dropped one place to No. 15.
Other than South Africa and New Zealand’s switch, the top five remain firm with No. 2 Ireland, No. 4 France and No. 5 England.
