The 2025–26 PREM Rugby Cup schedule has been confirmed, and the competition once again promises to deliver a mix of rising stars, fierce rivalries and a pathway to silverware for clubs across England.

Beginning Sept. 12 and running through early March, the Cup runs alongside the Gallagher PREM season but with a distinct role: it offers competitive rugby during international windows while also giving coaches an opportunity to blood academy talent and squad players.

Unlike the Gallagher PREM, which is a league format culminating in playoffs and a grand final, the PREM Rugby Cup is organized in rounds and knockout stages. That difference shapes the competition’s identity.

Premiership clubs often approach Cup games with an eye toward development, testing younger players and giving valuable minutes to those returning from injury. For fans, it is a chance to see both the future of English rugby and some of the most historic rivalries contested in a different setting.

The Cup has grown in recent years by including Championship sides and drawing healthy attendances at derbies and knockout ties. While it may not carry the prestige of the Premiership title, it fills an important place in the calendar — especially for supporters who want rugby when league fixtures pause for international duty.
