Stade Rochelais Rugby Schedule 2025--26: What To Know

La Rochelle Rugby, or Stade Rochelais, (13-1-12) starts the 2025–26 Top 14 campaign with a schedule that leaves little margin for error.

The club, which has reached multiple finals in recent years and captured back-to-back Champions Cups in 2022 and 2023, faces an opening stretch that could define its season before autumn arrives.

The challenge begins Sept. 6 with a short trip to Union Bordeaux-Bègles, a rival that played in consecutive Top 14 finals. Just one week later, La Rochelle hosts Clermont, another playoff-caliber side. Road visits to Lyon and Montpellier follow soon after, creating one of the league’s most demanding early calendars.

Making maters worse is star Will Skelton is current with his national team, Australia, in the Rugby Championship.

That front-loaded difficulty contrasts with a favorable finish. May brings a run of high-profile home matches, including Bordeaux and Toulouse, before closing against Stade Français on June 6. The late stretch could give La Rochelle an opportunity to climb the table if playoff qualification is still in reach.

Supporters at Stade Marcel-Deflandre will again expect their club to make the most of home advantage. Last season, La Rochelle conceded fewer than 20 points in nine matches, with most of those coming in front of their own supporters. Replicating that defensive edge will be essential if the team is to hold steady during long stretches of away games.

La Rochelle Rugby 2024–25 Season Recap

The previous season ended with La Rochelle sitting just outside the playoff positions. With 13 wins, a draw and 12 defeats, they competed with every top club but lacked consistency. Standout performances included a home victory over Toulouse, though defeats in tight road fixtures ultimately kept them from advancing. Their Champions Cup campaign ended earlier than their title-winning years, highlighting the pressure of competing on two fronts.
