After France, Pool D Is Wide Open | 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup

Here's a breakdown of Pool D of the Women's Rugby World Cup.

France leads Pool D at the 2025 Rugby Women’s World Cup, joined by Italy, South Africa and Brazil. 

Franceg, ranked No. 4 in the world, will open against Italy on Aug. 23 in Cardiff. The French are looking to build on consistent semifinal appearances and a Six Nations campaign that kept them among the top contenders.

Italy, ranked No. 7, will face South Africa on Aug. 31 in Exeter before meeting Brazil on Sept. 7 in Brighton. The Italians are coming off improved showings in Europe and will look to advance from the group stage for the third straight World Cup.

South Africa, ranked No. 12, begins play against Brazil on Aug. 24 in Exeter, before facing France on Sept. 7. 

The Springbok women have shown steady progress and will be targeting their clash with Italy as a chance to qualify. 

Brazil, ranked No. 25, enters as the lowest-ranked team in the tournament but adds a South American presence and will chase a breakthrough win.

Pool D spreads across Cardiff, Exeter and Brighton, with France vs. South Africa closing the group stage Sept. 7.
