Here's a breakdown of Pool A of the Women's Rugby World Cup.

Top-ranked England will anchor Pool A at the 2025 Rugby Women’s World Cup, opening the tournament Aug. 22 against the United States in Sunderland.

The Red Roses, who enter with a world rating of 97.76, are the highest-ranked team in the field and will have home support behind them throughout pool play.

Joining England are Australia, the USA Eagles and Samoa. 

The Wallaroos, ranked No. 6 in the world, open their campaign Aug. 23 against Samoa in Manchester. 

The USA, ranked No. 10 and featuring standout Ilona Maher, will meet Australia on Aug. 30 in York in what could decide the second qualifying spot from the pool. 

Samoa rounds out the group, making its World Cup return and seeking an upset in Northampton against England on Aug. 30.

Pool A features some of the tournament’s biggest crowds and venues, including Stadium of Light, Franklin’s Gardens and Brighton & Hove Albion Stadium. 

England vs. Australia on Sept. 6 in Brighton is expected to be one of the most-watched matches of pool play.

All Pool A matches will stream live in the United States on Paramount+, with select games airing on CBS Sports Network.
