'Australia Rugby Is Back' As Wallabies Score 38 Unanswered Points, Beat SA

The Australia Wallabies claimed a victory in Round 1 of The Rugby Championship, besting the No. 1-ranked South Africa Springboks with 38 unanswered points.

After scoring a try within the first two minutes of game time, it already seemed like the No. 1 South Africa Springboks were going to dismantle the No. 6 Australia Wallabies during the first round of The Rugby Championship. 

However, a second-half surge from the Wallabies proved Australia would be the team to dominate the reigning Rugby Championship and back-to-back Rugby World Cup title holders Aug. 16 in Johannesburg. 

Australia erased a 22-5 half time deficit by scoring 38 unanswered points against South Africa to claim one of its best wins since the 1999 Rugby World Cup. 

The match ended in a 38-22 win for the Wallabies and has set them up for success in next weekend's Round 2 against the Springboks.
