10 Best Rugby Stadiums In The World: All Blacks Don't Lose At Eden Park
New Zealand hosts the Springboks at Eden Park in The Rugby Championship, as South Africa looks to snap the sport's most impressive streak.

There are teams that are “unbeatable” at home in sports, and then there are the New Zealand All Blacks at Eden Park.
Whether we call them fields or pitches, whether they play in arenas, domes or under a retractable roof, there are home crowds that make sports venues special and daunting for opponents.
In America, they are places such as Lambeau Field, Ohio Stadium, The Big House, Allen Fieldhouse and Arrowhead Stadium.
But perhaps the most difficult place to play a home team in all of sports isn’t on a football field, soccer pitch, basketball court or baseball diamond.

It’s a rugby stadium in Auckland, New Zealand.
The New Zealand All Blacks, the country’s national team, have not lost at Eden Park in 31 years. Since losing to France 23-20 on July 3, 1994, New Zealand is 50-0-2 at its national stadium, Eden Park.
In that time, New Zealand has played 12 different national teams at the venue.
The two teams to leave without a loss were the South Africa Springboks and the British & Irish Lions, an all-star team from the United Kingdom. Australia has lost 20 times at Eden Park. The Springboks are 0-4-1.
But could that change during the 2025 Rugby Championship?
The Springboks, the No. 1-ranked team in the world and the winners of the last two Rugby World Cups, are in a golden era of rugby and have accomplished just about everything in the sport. They travel to Eden Park on Sept. 6 with one thing in mind.
“Handing the All Blacks a loss at Eden Park for the first time in 50 matches … is a big carrot for this Boks team,” FloRugby analyst Philip Bendon said. “They’ve already started talking about it. It’s kind of the last thing they need to check off on (their legacy.”
When it comes to great stadiums, the Springboks know a thing or two about rugby venues.
South Africa will open The Rugby Championship on Aug. 16 in their own fortress of Ellis Park.
The Johannesburg stadium, also known as Emirates Airlines Park, hosted the famed 1995 Rugby World Cup Final against New Zealand.
The Springboks have been playing at Ellis Park for 98 years and have won about 75% of their matches. They lost to the All Blacks in 2022 but have lost just five times at the stadium since 2000.
